Robert was born and raised in Louisville, KY and currently resides with his wife, Kris, in Zanesville, Ohio. Early on he divided his time between novels and playwriting, having written four novels and thirteen plays during that period. Seven of the plays saw productions in various cities across the country and won a number of awards, including the Southern Playwrights Competition for Kentucky Wings. He returned to novels exclusively with A Sunday Stroll Through The Ant Farm, which was selected as semifinalist in 2009 and 2010 in Amazon's Amazing Breakthrough Novel Awards, followed by Holy Toledo and the Virgin Shirley, a comedy/sci-fi. Robert considers his first four novels “training” and has them safely tucked away from prying eyes, although one of them—The Morning After Judgement--later changed to Our Song--garnered honorable mention in The Writer magazine book contest. He is currently working on a new novel, Farewell, Daddy Bones.
